Current Status

Management

The university is managed by a team core staffs and faculty members under the incumbent Vice Chancellor as the Chairperson of the Executive Council.

The Strategic Plan of Supershine University was written with a view to consolidate its status in the market of educational services and to be part of the development of human capital in Zambia.

The strategic Plan has been elaborated on the basis of extensive consultation with various higher educational stakeholders as well as the community.

In the 21st century, social and economic development largely depends on the existence of an educated population that enhances productivity. Therefore, Zambian citizens need strong autonomous, responsive and inclusive Universities providing research-based education and learning in order to meet the many challenges ahead.

Challenges

These social and economic challenges are generated in particular by:

These developments impact on, and require adaptation in, society and from labour markets everywhere. Universities are key actors in this process. Open and distance learning in Zambia has experienced some modernization in the past decade and Supershine University is committed to being part of the development in Zambia.

The Zambian population is set for open and distance education, and various reforms in education have been made by the government to develop the higher education and research areas to this effect. Currently the Zambian society is missing out on a huge pool of readily available human resources, and comparing the higher education participation rates in Zambia with the rest of the world gives a signal for calls of action.

This requires developing more inclusive and responsive Universities to adapt to the dynamic global market of educational services.
